CIRCULAIR Industry Workshop on 28-29 January 2026

CIRCULAIR Industry Workshop – Registration open

The online CIRCULAIR Industry Workshop focussed on the perspective of commercial HTL fuel production will take place on 28 and 29 January 2026 from 15.00 to 17.00 (CET).

The workshop aims to provide an up-to-date, industry-oriented overview of hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) as a pathway to commercial fuel production. It will highlight recent technical progress, early commercial deployment, and remaining barriers related to scale-up and fuel upgrading. A key objective is to foster dialogue between technology developers, fuel producers, end-users, academics and policymakers, enabling exchange on scale-up strategies, integration into existing fuel value chains, and the role of HTL fuels in aviation and maritime decarbonisation.

CIRCULAIR academic and industry partners, Advisory Group members and guest speakers (BHL, Aarhus University, Circlia Nordic, Firefly Green Fuels, Genifuel, PNNL, Topsoe, SkyNRG, Maersk, RISE…) will contribute to the two-afternoon event, which will feature four sessions covering the following topics:

  • Fundamentals of hydrothermal liquefaction and Early Commercial HTL
  • Upgrading of HTL biocrudes
  • HTL biofuels for aviation and shipping

The workshop primarily targets industry representatives, researchers and decision makers.  Participation is free of charge. Registration is mandatory.

Registration forms are available below:

Day 1 focussed on Fundamentals of hydrothermal liquefaction and Early Commercial HTL

Day 2 focussed on Upgrading of HTL biocrudes and HTL biofuels for aviation and shipping

The full programme will be shared shortly.
